Introducing Zoom for Government for University and Federal Government Collaboration

Stanford’s Zoom for Government (ZoomGov) instance provides a secure and compliant platform for university affiliates and government employees to meet, share information, and collaborate effectively while fulfilling the specific requirements and needs for virtual meetings with the Federal Government using Zoom.

How is this different from Stanford Zoom?

The user experience on ZoomGov is similar to the standard Zoom platform. However, ZoomGov takes a cautious approach to introducing new features and updates.

 ZoomGov is especially beneficial for:

  • researchers handling sensitive data
  • government officials requiring a higher level of security
  • university staff involved in federally funded projects
  • legal professionals
  • compliance officers who must adhere to stringent regulatory standards

Overall, this platform ensures all these users can collaborate seamlessly while maintaining security protocols.

Here's how it works

A Basic ZoomGov account is required to participate in virtual meetings with the federal government. Users can create a Basic ZoomGov account by logging in to https://stanford.zoomgov.com. Once the ZoomGov account is set up, users can synchronize their Outlook Calendar to schedule meetings and log in to their ZoomGov account using the Zoom desktop client to join or initiate meetings.

It's important to note that meetings created utilizing Basic ZoomGov accounts are limited to 40 minutes in duration. Individuals requiring longer meeting times should request a Full ZoomGov license
