Ten Year Up Interns Join Stanford to Begin a Life-Changing Journey

By Evan Bello, Year Up Intern, Office of the CIO, UIT

Diving into a new internship is a daunting, yet exhilarating experience. It’s a chance to grow, to change, and to learn all you can about yourself as a professional. With 10 new Year Up interns — including myself —joining various teams at Stanford this fall, there is once again a chance to see this change unfold. With that said, we are all on a journey that will allow us to blossom into the best version of ourselves.

Now, I'd like to introduce you to Stanford’s sixth Year Up cohort and learn how we each answered the question: What do you hope to gain during your time at Stanford?

Year Up Journey

Prior to starting an internship at Stanford, all of us completed six months of training in Year Up at different locations within the Bay Area. We studied in areas such as help desk/desktop support, cyber security, project management, data analytics, and quality assurance. Please welcome this wonderful group of individuals as we soar to greater heights at Stanford.

I'm proud to be a member of this Year Up cohort. Whether this is a first job or a career change, an internship is a special time for each of us. The next months will offer us the opportunity to gain the skills necessary to complete tasks, learn new systems and tools, and continuously push and move forward. The chance to grow and develop in a positive work environment at Stanford for success will help us to grow and reflect on where we were and where we want to be. It is through these reflections that we can see the path that has been forged from our experiences.
