Intune for Android Devices Now Available

As previously announced, the university has transitioned to Microsoft Intune as our mobile device management (MDM) solution for Stanford-managed Android devices. This change will provide enhanced flexibility and offer smoother integration with existing systems.

What you need to know

  • Devices in Workspace ONE: To remain compliant, devices currently enrolled in Workspace ONE must migrate to Intune before May 21, 2025. Devices that do not migrate by this date will no longer be managed by Workspace ONE, and all associated Stanford apps and data will be removed — including access to email and messaging apps.
  • New Android devices: New Android devices used for Stanford work-related activities should enroll in Intune. You’ll find step-by-step instructions on the MDM service page.

A few more details

  • On April 22, University IT emailed those using an Android device enrolled in Workspace ONE, providing instructions on how to migrate to Intune.
  • Android 13 is a requirement for Intune enrollment. Devices running Android 12 or earlier should update before migrating. Follow these instructions to check and update your Android version number.
  • The Workspace ONE service will be sunsetted on May 22, 2025.
