New Year, New Cohort: Stanford IT Welcomes Its January 2027 Year Up Interns

Joel Zamora | University IT

As an intern with both the SUHP and Cardinal Print teams, Joel processes asset retirements, validates returned assets, and assists with print order management. He's already taken initiative by developing Apps Scripts to synchronize data across active workbooks—streamlining workflows and putting his Year Up training to practical use. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn, contribute, and continue growing through my experience at Stanford and Year Up United."

Amir Karriem | Stanford University Libraries

Amir supports helpdesk and desktop operations at Stanford Libraries while independently expanding his skills in programming and networking. His passion for technology dates back to his early teens, when dreams of making video games eventually led him to IT—and ultimately to Year Up United. His sights are now set on a career in cybersecurity. "Continue to grow, be enthusiastic about learning something new, and strive to shine, not outshine."

Harry Huang | University IT

Harry comes from Year Up United's IT Support track and is now working with the UIT ServiceNow team, managing change requests for the university's support portal. He's motivated by understanding complex systems—from enterprise IT workflows to the physics he hopes to study in higher education. "I'm looking forward to growing with UIT, learning from fantastic mentors, and finding out if the laws of physics can finally explain why 'turning it off and on again' always works."

Peter Luis Feniquito | Stanford Medicine Children's Health

A computer engineering graduate originally from the Philippines, Peter brings both formal education and a strong sense of purpose to his desktop support role at Stanford Medicine Children's Health. With a goal of becoming a network engineer, he credits his family and a lifelong drive to build a better future as his core motivators. "Never settle for less—stay consistent and disciplined, and you can achieve whatever you're pursuing."

Some partnerships only get better with time. Since 2019, the Year Up United Internship Program and the Stanford IT community have built something truly special, and this summer that tradition continues. On July 27, 2026, Stanford proudly welcomed its 16th Year Up United cohort of nine driven and talented young local professionals ready to hit the ground running.

The Year Up Internship Program remains one of the most impactful ways Stanford invests in the next generation of technology professionals. Spanning multiple departments, and, for the first time, Stanford Medicine Children's Health, this cohort represents the continued growth and reach of a program that has become a cornerstone of Stanford's IT community.

About Year Up

Year Up prepares young professionals with the technical foundation, professional skills, and hands-on experience needed to launch sustainable careers. Through a blend of classroom learning and real-world internships, participants gain exposure to enterprise environments while building confidence and clarity in their career paths.
