Take Part in Take 5

Make it a habit to share updates about the work you and your colleagues are advancing

If you're part of the IT Community at Stanford, you're encouraged to take part in the new Take 5 tool.

Envisioned by the IT Community Champions, and designed by the University IT Communications team, the Take 5 tool is part of a broader effort to build a more connected and collaborative IT Community, in part through greater information sharing.

You are encouraged to "Take 5” minutes each week to:

  1. Update your colleagues about work you are actively advancing, planning for, or simply considering.
  2. Read updates from your colleagues to stay informed about what’s going on outside your team.
  3. Engage in dynamic conversations on Slack about the Take 5 updates you and your colleagues are sharing.

How does it work?

Take 5 provides a shared online space for you and your IT colleagues IT to self-publish with no editing or moderation, and engage in a chat discussion with your colleagues about your update through a built-in Slack integration. You can also search the updates from your colleagues in three ways: by strategic area, by keywords, or by a particular member of the IT community who authored an update.

What's the value?

By making it a habit to not only post updates, but also browse them – either on the Take 5 webpage or on the #take5 Slack channel in the IT at Stanford Slack workspace – it’s our goal you will stay more informed about what’s happening across our community, make new or stronger connections with your colleagues, and identify collaboration opportunities to enhance your own team’s efforts in valuable ways.
