New Year, New Opportunities for Growth and Development

Looking to get a jumpstart on your 2022 professional development goals? Wherever you are in your IT career, here are two great growth opportunities you can explore to invest in yourself: the new IT Mentoring Program and the newly expanded IT Experiential Development Program.

Available to all IT staff, these programs offer valuable opportunities to learn, grow, and accelerate your IT career at Stanford.

Build your network and advance your skills

The new IT Mentoring Program delivers an exciting approach to professional development, networking, knowledge-sharing, and more. Whether you participate as a mentor, a mentee, or both, the program provides many benefits. Working with a mentor is a great way to sharpen your skills and gain new perspectives to help you develop to your fullest potential in the workplace. Stepping up as a mentor enables you to share your expertise and help shape the next generation of leaders while gaining new insights and perspectives.

While mentor and mentee relationships form during the term of the program, they often last for years beyond those dates — so participants can continue to leverage the experience both now and in the future.

IT Mentoring Program application forms are available online. All applications for mentors and mentees must be submitted by Monday, Jan. 24.

Explore short term development assignments

The IT Experiential Development Program (EDP) supports individual growth and development through on-the-job learning opportunities. This program offers three distinct learning experiences that vary in time commitment and complexity, so there is truly something for everyone. Whether spending an hour of time Job Shadowing or six months in a Short-Term Development Assignment, engaging in the program can broaden your skills, expertise, and connections at Stanford.

Participants may sign up at any time throughout the year for a Job Shadow or Go-and-See Opportunity, and the list of available opportunities is always growing!

Short Term Development Assignments are offered twice a year, once in the summer and once in the winter. Check out the list of Short-Term Development Assignments that are available now.
