Student and Academic Technology Council (SATC)

The Student and Academic Council (SATC) maintains executive oversight of student and academic IT systems to support a best in-class teaching and learning experience for faculty, students, instructors, and academic advisors.

The council oversees the project portfolio and roadmap for all academic administrative, learning, and collaboration services. Members work closely with key stakeholders and constituencies to ensure alignment with Stanford’s Long Range Vision and overall strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of SATC are grouped into three areas.

Executive strategic and budgetary oversight

  • Review and endorse student and academic technology funding requests presented to SGG and the  Budget Group
  • Set direction and priorities for student and academic enterprise IT strategies
  • Oversee steering committees and project portfolio (e.g., Connected Curriculum, Graduate Admissions, etc.) 
  • Define multi-year roadmap including budget recommendations and funding strategies

Advocacy

  • Advocate for the student experience
  • Advocate for the projects of distributed units
  • Advocate for necessary resource allocations 

Endorsement of shared solutions and best practices

  • Lead student and academic IT collaboration efforts across campus
  • Establish standardized processes and workflows
