Grow Your Career With IT EDP

It’s been said that experience is the best teacher. But that experience can be hard to come by … until now.

After a successful pilot phase, the IT Experiential Development Program (IT EDP) is officially launching in February. The program offers a chance for staff to broaden skills and expertise within and across Stanford IT by learning directly from colleagues in their everyday roles.

Aligning with the CIO Council Campus IT Plan (CITP) goal of nurturing a diverse and inclusive IT community, IT EDP supports innovation and lifetime learning while also encouraging collaboration across schools, departments, groups, and units.

Learn more from one of the IT EDP co-sponsors and CIO of the School of Humanities and Sciences, Jon Pilat, as well as the first cohort of pilot participants:

About the program

IT EDP enables participants to shadow someone from another team or unit, and/or sit in on a team meeting or project. The opportunities are designed to be relatively lightweight, with participants spending anywhere from a few hours up to two days worth of time observing a role.

Future phases of the program may include short-term projects or assignments and job rotations.

Get started

If you’re interested in participating in an IT EDP opportunity, speak with your manager and then visit the IT EDP page on the IT Community website. There you can review detailed instructions and browse a list of opportunities.

Likewise, if you’d like to submit and host an opportunity, you can find guidelines for adding your opportunity to the directory on the IT EDP webpage

Stay tuned for information about opportunities offered in future IT EDP phases coming later this year.
