Thanks to the work of the IT Community Champions, you can now display your IT-related skills and expertise on your Stanford Profile. This feature will allow you to better identify colleagues with particular skills and experience and connect in more meaningful ways.
This is the first step towards creating a Stanford IT-specific directory that will be accessible and searchable on this IT Community website next month.
The new Profiles feature allows you to add your skills and expertise by selecting as many of these 80 predefined IT keywords that are aligned with our Campus IT Plan. In time, as more and more IT staff use this new feature, a search for people with particular skill sets or experience will return more valuable results, and connecting with colleagues across our distributed IT community will be made easier.
Update your Stanford Profile
To successfully launch the IT directory next month with more meaningful data, we need your help. Follow these simple instructions to add your skills and expertise to your Stanford Profile. Here’s why:
Value now. Once you’ve selected your IT-related skills and expertise keywords, your profile will be widely searchable on Profiles across the Stanford community by those keywords. You may find yourself connecting with someone who isn’t an IT professional, yet has experience in one of your current technical efforts.
Even more value later. In December, the IT Community website will use Stanford Profile’s API to pull all IT-specific data — staff profiles and the skills and expertise keywords. You and your colleagues will then be able to perform more targeted searches across IT-specific profiles and keywords within itcommunity.stanford.edu. This will ultimately help you find – and collaborate with – colleagues across our distributed IT community who have specific skills and expertise that could help you advance your work.
