WIT+ Launches Webpage Redesign and New Committees

Stanford Women in Technology + Allies (Stanford WIT+), a program within Stanford IDEAL IT, is a community of women, non-binary people, and allies with a mission to advance representation, engagement, and support for women and non-binary people in technology roles at Stanford.

Launched as Women in Technology (WIT) in 2018, this IDEAL IT pillar was relaunched as WIT+ to demonstrate its commitment to inclusivity as well as to differentiate the program from the other WIT-related programs affiliated with Stanford. The hope is to not only inspire and support women and non-binary people in technology but also open the space for allies to get involved. As part of the relaunch, the WIT+ webpages were revamped, and organizational changes were made, including the number and composition of subcommittees.

New Committees

WIT+ condensed their previous five committees down to two core groups to streamline efforts and create a less demanding time commitment, allowing for more participation from those interested in joining. Committees formerly known as Connection & Engagement and Education & Training are now known as the WIT+ Community Engagement committee. The mission of this refined committee is to create opportunities for WIT+ community members to develop and grow relationships, raise awareness of events and information to grow their community, and provide education and training that address the fundamental challenges the WIT+ community faces.

Committees formerly known as Service & Outreach and Marketing & Promotion are now known as the WIT+ Communications & Outreach committee. The mission of this refined committee is to build brand awareness of and increase participation in Stanford WIT+, build and empower the next generation of women in technology, and grow and diversify the talent pipeline at Stanford.

The WIT+ Data Analysis committee, whose most recent work was presented and discussed at the WIT+ Connect event on April 19, is being promoted to an IDEAL IT-wide committee because of the need for data analysis work and support across the entire IDEAL IT program.

WIT+ continues to meet quarterly to network, learn, and be inspired by guest speakers and programming focused on topics relevant to women and non-binary people in technology. They also host a variety of trainings, workshops, and group discussions that offer opportunities to connect in smaller settings. Click here to view past events.
