Accessibility in IT is an IDEAL IT community that focuses on building awareness, allyship, and accountability around digital accessibility at Stanford. It is a partnership with the Office of Digital Accessibility.
This spring, the IDEAL IT Accessibility in IT program is launching a new virtual lunch-n-learn series intended for anyone who wants to learn more about accessibility and why it’s important. The series will provide a relaxed and informal forum for conversation about practical actions that can make a big difference in accessibility. The intention is to create a place to listen, discuss, and share perspectives.
The lunch-n-learn series will be delivered in various formats, including facilitated conversation, presentations, and workshops led by Stanford experts and external speakers. Some of the topics currently being planned include:
- Practical actions that can help our workplace promote accessibility while being more inclusive
- Accessibility tools that may be already available and built into our collaboration and productivity tools
- New technologies and innovations that are being used at the intersection of disability, accessibility, and student life
- Resources that can help anyone be a better ally, colleague, or family member (!) to anyone with accessibility needs
Other upcoming accessibility-related events include a Stanford Medicine Accessible Technology Group (SMAT) event in recognition of Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) on May 18-19, and our IDEAL IT community’s annual community event in mid-June. Registration details for both events are coming soon.
