The Stanford POC-IT Planning Committee makes Stanford POC-IT happen on a day-to-day basis, with the goal of advancing the Stanford POC-IT mission.
Planning Committee members produce quarterly meetings and small group activities. They also perform data analysis and manage communication channels to keep the community informed and engaged.
Planning Committee Areas of Activity:
Planning Committee members of the Explore Careers in Technology Events (ExCITE) planning group serve as an avenue through which presenters can share insights on career advancement, self-wellness, and allyship at Stanford University.
This group's efforts with ExCITE programming:
- Strengthen and expand Stanford IT recruitment programs.
- Address factors that impede staff retention.
- Expand leadership programs.
- Increase representation and opportunities for all Blacks and other people of color working in the CIO Council units.
Specifically, related to ExCITES, the Planning Committee is responsible for:
- Identifying themes and workshops
- Identifying and connecting with presenters
- Coordinating the infrastructure support for the event
The POC-IT Speaker Series is a platform for IT leaders from historically excluded communities to share their career journeys and lessons learned.
Event participants learn what steps and tools can be used to make themselves successful at the next job or level of employment.
Specifically, related to the Speaker Series, the Planning Committee is responsible for:
- Identifying and connecting with presenters
- Coordinating the infrastructure support for the event
In addition to ExCITEs and the Speaker Series, POC-IT engages in efforts to "move the needle" on representation, engagement, and support for people of color in technology across Stanford.
Additional areas of work for these efforts include:
- Office of the CIO (OCIO) partnership
- University Human Resources (UHR) partnership
