Notes

SoE Kiosk

SoE IT Team demoed the kiosk solution, both software and hardware used and lessons learned during deployment.  Team also demoed the pilot of Lost and Found software www.lostandfoundsoftware.com that allows the facilities team to track inventory and match on inquiries made by the Stanford community.

Discussion revolved around new features like reserving a room real-time, geo-location on maps, lost and found collaboration across different Stanford groups, attendee registration and check-in, or integration into card readers.

Improvements discussed by the SoE IT team included improved metrics around external sites that currently can’t be tracked with Google Analytics.

Technical topics for further exploration include using larger screen sizes, using an accessibility mode, power over Ethernet options, hosting kiosk offline, card reader API, and using kiosk as thin client to use email but ensure settings cleared/disconnected immediately.
